PHRYGIA. Accilaeum. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Assarion (Bronze, 20 mm, 5.23 g, 6 h), time of Gordian III, 238-244. ΒΟΥΛΗ Draped bust of the Boule to right. Rev. ΑΚΚΙΛΑЄΩΝ Dionysos standing front, head to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and thyrsos in his left. Martin, Akkilaion 1. RPC VII.1 678. Von Aulock, Phrygien I, 2-4 (same dies). Very rare, apparently the fourth known example. Very fine.

The city of Accilaeum is only known from its rare coinage, all of which appears to have been issued under Gordian III.
